Prunus Domestica Syriaca - Plum
Fruit of the family of the prunus domestica, the mirabelle is, by definition, "beautiful to see", from the Italian mira bella. Known since ancient times as prunus domestica syriaca, the plum was cultivated in Asia Minor, throughout Persia, and in Eastern Europe. Roman manuscripts trace the origin of the mirabelle to Syria: at the time when the Romans ruled the region, different varieties of plums were introduced to Rome, including the mirabelle. Dark yellow in color, this small rounded plum is usually covered in a thin layer of edible wax called pruine (wax flower).
You will like it if ...you identify yourself as its texture: sugary but delicate.
